Chatham & Cape Cod Photo Excursions

Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to sign up.  The regular Thursday night tours are on hiatus due to a heavy shooting schedule. You may however request a custom personal excursion for a custom date (rates are $100 per hour per person anywhere on the Cape, transportation included for up to 4) here. I will be booking tours on a weekly basis according to your schedule and mine throughout the year.

What you need:

-Any camera or phone camera (iPhones are quite acceptable).  Christopher will provide transportation for up to 4 in his SUV and we enlist a volunteer to transport the remainder of the group if any.  Chris will also bring along some accessories for group use, a reflector for macros, a ladder for that unique angle, etc..

This tour is casual and meant for socializing and peer-to-peer networking so don’t plan on shooting alone.  Personal tutoring is available as requested but this is not a photo workshop.  Many photography tours only cater to advanced users but this tour can accommodate all levels of aspiring photographers. Tours require only a basic camera, and are not physically strenuous, though you should plan for wet or soggy terrain.  One of Chris’ favorite locations is indeed a local marsh.

Chris is the author of six hard cover photography books, most recently The Cape Cod National Seashore: A Photographic Adventure & Guide (Schiffer, 2012), Cape Cod & Islands Reflections (Schiffer LTD, 2010) and also two landmark Chatham photography books: Chatham Views: A Photographic Journey of Chatham, Massachusetts and Chatham by Air: Aerial Photos of Chatham, Cape Cod.

As a native Chatham resident Chris will also share his expertise in local culture and history. Tours are as individual as the participants; which can be customized according to interests and skill level of the group, and for the weather.  Only an actual downpour or Nor’Easter will keep us from shooting.

Beginning and advanced photographers are welcome, as are non-photographing friends and family, as long as they understand that the fee is still required, and they are happy to linger in some locations while others shoot photographs.

These tours tend to be more relaxed than formal photography workshops, so expect impromptu additions, demonstrations in the field, and personal tutoring sessions.  You can also expect that I’ll be shooting lightly right along side you so that we can compare results.

Final Note:  Excursions happen regardless of the weather (except for hurricanes) so dress accordingly. This is not the class for you if you’re only looking for the gorgeous golden sunsets!

We reserve the right to change the dates/times 48 hours prior to the class and all deposits are refundable with 48 hours notice.  Otherwise the class fee is 50% refundable for notice less than 48 hours.
